From December 3 to 6, 2020, the third symposium on space earth science (SESS) held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The conference is hosted by the Space Geoscience Committee of Chinese Society for Space Sciences (CSSR), and organized by the school of geospatial engineering and science of sun yat-sen university.

        This session focused on the theme of “Developing Space Earth Observation and Serving Earth System Science”, experts and scholars at home and abroad gathered to exchange ideas, show achievements, discuss the situation, pool strength and focus on the future, so as to jointly promote the development of space earth science. The conference was divided into seven sub sessions, covering new technologies and methods of space earth observation, three polar spatial and temporal observation and simulation, ocean atmosphere observation and assimilation, water cycle observation and simulation, earth big data and analysis, biogeochemical cycle observation and simulation, mechanism of major natural disasters and space observation.

        Teacher Wenli Huang, post-doctoral Zhiwei Li and Peng Dou, doctoral Jun Ma and master Hanli Hu of the lab attended this meeting. During the meeting, teachers and students of the lab had extensive exchanges and discussions with experts and scholars of space earth science at home and abroad on land surface observation simulation, atmospheric observation simulation, research and development of ecological environment products, etc.
